Thyroid Cancer Support West was set up as a patient led support group in 2015 with help from a grant given by Macmillan Cancer Support along with Dr Matthew Beasley (our Honorary President), Consultant Oncologist at Bristol Haematology and Oncology Centre.
In 2017 we formed a committee, all of whom work on a voluntary basis and have had experience of thyroid cancer and later that year we became a registered charity.
One of our key commitments is to be here for patients and their families. We are not medical professionals, but like you, all of us have been touched by thyroid cancer either personally or via a family member.
Part of what we do here at TCSW is to support the various hospital trusts within the South West by engaging with their dedicated CNS nurses. This relationship allows us to prioritise what we can do to provide those little comforts to patient rooms to make any stay for treatment more bearable.
Sign up to hear from us about our work and about other great events!
September is thyroid cancer awareness month. So we are reminding everyone of this crucial message.
CHECK YOUR NECK REGULARLY for any lump and see your doctor if it lasts longer than two weeks, especially if not associated with a cough or cold.
